National Schools Championships – Tipton

Five club players took part as Hampshire Schools Champions to the Ntional Schools Individual Championships in Tipton. Jasmine Williams in the U11 category won all her matches in the group stage beating at least one higher nationally ranked player. Another win in the first round saw her progress to the quarter finals where she lost to te No2 seed. Habina Seo progressed from the group stage as runner up in the group. She only then lost out in the last 16.

Ryan Darwen did not progress from his group losing 2 matches and finishing 3rd in the U13’s.Lois Peake easily progressed from her group as winner and after a couple of matches then found fellow international Emily Bolton in her way in the semi-final. After a nervy start she triumphed 3-1 to meet defender Eva Wang from China.The final was a one sided affair with Eva in great form winning 3-0. A silver medal position for Lois – well done.

Letitia McMullan made a sure start winning her group easily in the U16 category. A tough match against Isobel Joubileysaw Letitia progress to the semi final to face the No 1 seed Kate Cheer. Letitia saw off the challenge 3-0 with some great backhand counter hitting. Charlotte Boston in the final was no match for the determined Letitia who won 3-0 without being troubled – Congratulations to National Schools Champion Letitia McMullan.
